As soon as I graduated from college and moved out of my parents’ house I bought a puppy. My dad always hated dogs and never let me get one because he thought he and my mom would end up taking care of it once I tired of it. In retrospect I’m sure he was right. However, now I’m significantly more responsible and won’t tire of things so easily. I did a lot of research looking for a puppy and found one through a local animal shelter. Her mom had been pregnant when she was picked up and taken to the animal shelter, where she was born. I named her Roxy and since I got her I’ve been spending all my spare time looking up house training tips and other information on my wild blue internet service.
I’ve also started reading a ton of puppy care blogs in my spare time, from which I’ve gotten a lot of great suggestions for things like flea drops and dog food. My friends are starting to joke that Roxy is my replacement for a boyfriend, but I just ignore them and am enjoying my time with my new puppy.
